The wood pile

PreviousNext

In the “Warschent” wood there had once been a wood-pile, used to produce charcoal. The small size of this wood pile indicates that this kind of production had only been a sideline for the local farmers, who used the charcoal probably only to heat their homes. In many woods in Luxembourg, for example in the Grünewald, charcoal had ever been produced in important amounts, in order to heat the metallurgical furnaces of the Luxembourg ironworks industry.
